Finishing up with this term at SCAD my final for my drawing class was to do another self portrait which symbolises us. So I did the picture below...

The Castle in the background is my ancestral home in Scotland.

In one of my classes lately we were assigned to do a self portrait. I have never enjoyed drawing people, it was one of those things I really struggled with but I knew with this piece if I were ever going to be at peace with myself I felt I had to feel it looked like me. So after hours of work, adjusting, and redoing this was the result and I am very happy with the outcome! The prompt was to draw ourselves as another character, so I chose Prince Eric from Disney's The Little Mermaid. It was drawn on black paper with white charcoal. I was very excited to find that my teacher had chosen it to display on the wall in our building, this is 3/3 on getting my work on the wall.

My Latest project in my Drawing class was to attach some food related objects to a piece of cardboard and draw them using charcoal. This week at SCAD we held the Themed Entertainment Association's SATE Conference (Storytelling, Architecture, Technology, Experience) I was a volunteer at the conference which was a fabulous opportunity, but it meant I had to get this done quickly, overall it took me four hours to create this drawing.

So about two weeks ago I attended the D23 Expo, which is a large Disney fan event held by Disney. There they had a fabulous exhibit on Walt Disney Imagineering, called Journey into Imagineering. One of the rooms in the pavilion was faux painting and color schematics. I thought it was so cool that it inspired me to do this piece. This is based of Disneyland's Snow White's Scary Adventures attraction, one of my favorite exteriors in Fantasyland. This piece was done using Acrylic paints.

Lately I have been asked to work with a local school to create concepts for their next years production of Disney's 'The Little Mermaid Jr.' It has been exciting working on it so far. Here are a few of the concepts we have created so far for Ariel's Grotto, Ursula's Lair, and Scuttle's Rock. One tool I have utilised with this project for Ideas has been pinterest which is an amazing site to consolodate and coordinate ideas, our board is at http://pinterest.com/taylordisney55/the-little-mermaid/. Enjoy this and more post journeying 'Under the Sea'.

Update: Eric's Ship Concept

Sections of the ship are going to be the backs of the two side gardens in Ursula's Lair...

For my final for my stagecraft class I had to create a prop so I decided to create a candle. Now you can find a DIY so you can make this candle HERE It is nice because you can stick a cheap LED tealight and it looks fantastic!

Today's post is one of my latest works, for a college course I am taking we were assigned to do a painting using only two complimentary colors. So I decided to paint with oils, I didn't really plan what I was going to do but I knew I wanted to use Purple and Yellow. As I got started I remembered a piece of concept art for the Indiana Jones attraction at Disneyland, so my inspiration is 'Indiana Jones Temple of the Forbidden Eye' at sunset. Let me know what you think.

The Curse of Timpanogos I talked about earlier in my first Vault post. It was designs for a roller coaster which would run through the caves of Mount Timpanogos. After the competition I continued with the idea and created the following pieces. Not all complete but I hope to get back to them and finish the concept and post it at a later date. Enjoy!

Like I have said I love many different things. One of my niches is 3D architectural design. I have explored into Sketch-Up and Solid Works for the following pieces.
Darkastle in Bush Gardens Europe near Williamsburg, Virginia.
Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland, California, originally design for use in Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.
The original Wasatch High School, modeled after extensive research for pictures of the long gone historic structure.
